Martin Transportation Systems, Inc. has maintained its “Satisfactory” safety rating from the US DOT for more than 10 years. We accomplish this by providing our drivers with safe, legal round-trip auto parts load. We also employ a variety of systems to help our drivers get their job done safely and legally.
MTS is on the front end of Hours of Service compliance by providing our drivers the advantage of PeopleNet’s eDriver electronic logs, which eliminates the worry and hassle of maintaining and updating a paper logbook several times a day. Most of the logging functions are automatic, and drivers are well aware of remaining hours in a driving shift. Dispatch and the driver are always in sync on available hours and what can be done legally. The system also calculates a driver’s 70-hour recap and automatically credits for 34-hour reset breaks. MTS has hours of service compliance support on duty 24/7 to assist drivers with Hours of Service to assure they’re running legal.
MTS offers a $50 bonus to drivers who receive a clean DOT roadside inspection. Company paid toll cards are provided to drivers to encourage toll road use. Drivers are reimbursed the cost of weighing loads to make sure they’re legal. Our shop offers drive-through lanes for safety inspections in several locations. There is also a 24-hour Breakdown department staffed 7 days a week so a driver is never “out there alone” when there’s a problem.
Finally, drivers are rewarded an additional $100 a month bonus for keeping speeds and idle time reasonable. MTS further assists the driver in hitting this monthly bonus goal by paying for IdleAir. Drivers taking a 10-hour or 34-hour break are able to swipe their fuel card for all the amenities IdleAir offers. This includes filtered warm or cool air, a quiet place to rest with no idling trucks, and free basic cable and internet.
